Advanced Pistol & Carbine Skills
Structured practice in malfunction recognition, safe recovery, and platform transitions.
Experienced recreational shooters seeking a supervised skills-development course beyond introductory marksmanship.
Learning objectives
- Maintain safe muzzle and trigger discipline during higher-workload, instructor-controlled practice.
- Recognize common firearm stoppages and distinguish user-correctable issues from conditions requiring the firearm to be taken out of service.
- Practice manufacturer-consistent, range-approved malfunction procedures at a deliberate pace, then evaluate consistency without unsafe time pressure.
- Demonstrate safe administrative transitions between pistol and carbine only in a static, controlled training lane and under explicit instructor commands.
- Identify when to stop, make the firearm safe, and request instructor assistance rather than force a malfunction or continue with an unsafe firearm.
Course scope & limitations
All malfunction exercises should use inert training aids or verified-unloaded firearms in a controlled area. Do not intentionally induce malfunctions with live ammunition. No tactical scenarios, force-on-force, room clearing, or operational-use certification is included. Live-fire work is limited to instructor-approved static fundamentals and the facility’s rules.
All courses are non-certification, non-credentialing training for education, practice, and personal preparedness. Participation or completion does not award a completion card, license, professional credential, medical qualification, or third-party certification. Seek separate recognized certification where required.
